With professionalism and passion, Frank Scarpaci partnered
with our team at the Joan B. Kroc Institute of Peace & Justice at the
University of San Diego. His creative ideas helped us to develop a portfolio
of pieces for a sponsorship program which facilitated outreach to potential
supporters for the Women PeaceMakers conference, “Who’s making policy? What
difference does it make?” As we welcomed over 150 women and men from
around the world for the three-day conference, the IPJ staff was able focus
its resources on the programming thanks to Frank’s advance planning and
assistance in systematizing outreach efforts and generating additional funds
through in-kind contributions and individual donations.

Thanks to Frank Scarpaci’s work this year on STAR Awards, our annual
celebration of volunteers in the performing arts, we exceeded our optimistic
earned income budget by more than $15,000.

As the founder of an organization, it's always challenging to send one's project clear across the country into the care of a stranger. Your leadership and exacting diligence far exceeded any concerns I might have had. What impressed me beyond your impeccable handling of the project, was your obvious commitment to building a stronger more educated community.
I was extremely impressed with both your business and personal relationships in the San Diego community. Our work together was broad and multi-faceted and might easily have been organized by 3 or 4 different people from very diverse sectors of the community. Your ability to interface with and move between all of those worlds was impressive. Although you were handling other business at the same time, I always felt your focus and attention was on our work.

Frank's commitment to fighting AIDS along with his creative approach to recruiting hundreds of volunteers from American Express resulted in the largest corporate AIDS Walk team we've ever had. We incorporated many of his ideas into our Team Captain training and materials. Frank's leadership helped to increase corporate participation in the Walk, offered examples for companies on how to energize their employees and promote community relations, all while supporting charitable organizations.
